The Half Guinea was a Gold coin which was first produced in 1669.
It was demonetised in 1816 although like the Guinea it was used in quoting prices until decimalisation. Its value fluctuated over the years from ten to fifteen Shillings and back down to 10/6d by the start of George's reign.
